LANCASTER, SC ~ Ms. Mary Jeanine Bowers Gardner, age 79, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023. She was born August 14, 1943, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Manley Brice Bowers, Sr. and Mary Louise Player Bowers. Ms. Jeanine retired from Springs Industries in the sewing department. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden, sewing, cutting her children's hair, and spoiling her grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy, and she was a one of a kind mother and grandmother.

Ms. Jeanine is survived by her children, Robin Hargett, Michael Gardner (Frankie), Chris Gardner (Lynn), and Richard "Junebug" Gardner, Jr. (Brandy Murphy); grandchildren, Greg (Kathleen), Michael, Misty, Brittany (Will), Lisa (Jonathan), Amy (Amber), Tanner (Jessica), Chandler (Erin), Destiny (Cody), Wriston (Danielle), Griffin (Kameron), Paitan, Grayson, DJ (Ann), Zack, and Zane; eighteen great grandchildren and one on the way; two sisters-in-law, Linda Bowers and Kathy Bowers; and many nieces and nephews.

Ms. Jeanine was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elaine Medlin; and two brothers, Billy Bowers and Junior Bowers.

The Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Jeanine will be 3:00 pm, Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Robbie Jones and Cody Amburn. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm - 3:00pm, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Douglas Presbyterian Church, 2325 Sunday Place, Lancaster, SC 29720.
