LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Loretta Jean Watson Miner, age 84, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at her home. She was born August 1, 1939, the daughter of the late Wallace "Flat" Elmer Watson and the late Hazel Juanita Whitehead Watson and was the loving wife of the late James "Jim" Howard Miner. Mrs. Miner retired from Lancaster County Parks and Recreation Center after serving 23 years as the receptionist. She was a member of the Springs Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and served as the giftshop chairperson. In her younger years, she served as the Girl Scouts Brownie Leader. Mrs. Miner was a friend to everyone; she never met a stranger and was loved by so many. She loved her family, especially her four grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and was always so proud of everything they accomplished. Mrs. Miner was a member of The Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Miner is survived by her three daughters, Teresa Miner of St. Augustine, FL, Cheri Miner Pius (Glenn) of St. Augustine, FL, and Michelle Miner Reece (Matthew) of Lancaster, SC; four grandchildren, Caleb and Sydney Reece, and Ethan and Hannah Pius; and her brother-in-law, Don Culp.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Miner; her parents, Wallace "Flat" and Hazel Watson; and her sister, Evelyn Culp.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Miner will be 11:00 am Saturday May 4, 2024, at Covenant Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall and following the service for the ones who were not able to attend visitation prior.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, in memory of Jim Miner, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
