LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Jasper Burr, Sr., age 91, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 at MUSC-Lancaster.  He was born July 22, 1929, a son of the late Nathan Burr and Maggie Gaskin Burr and was the husband of the late Sarah Knight Burr.  Mr. Burr loved the outdoors, working in his garden and yard.  Reading his Bible and his prayer time was very special and important to him.  Mr. Burr was a godly man who was a charter member of Eastside Baptist Church; however, was currently a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Mr. Burr is survived by two sons, Jerry Burr (Barbara), and Otis "Shorty" Burr; a daughter, Barbara Haire (James); seven grandchildren, Angela Hinson, Amy Short, Kim Pate, Nicole Burr, Brandy Gandy, Lisa Roberson, and Jamie Burr; thirteen great grandchildren, Zackery Hinson, Darren Allen, Dustin Allen, Timothy Catoe, Breona Catoe, Cody Pate, Brandon Pate, Cayle Burr, Tory Burr, Jaycee Burr, Druw Rollings, Lexi Roberson, and Ande Grace Roberson; and five great-great grandchildren, Cooper Allen, Hudson Pate, Noah Pate, Lakyn Pate, and Taylor Burr.

Mr. Burr was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Burr; two sons, Terry Burr, and Jackie Burr; a grandson, James Russell Haire; his parents; four brothers, Leo Burr, Clinton Burr, Robert Burr, and J.P. Burr; and a sister, Isabelle Burr Jordan.

The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Mr. Burr will be 11:00 am Monday, December 21, 2020 at Lancaster Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Donnie Birchfield and Rev. Donald Tillman.  Masks are required for the service and we ask everyone to practice social distancing.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, at the graveside.  Memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 1809 Bennett Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
