LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Janie Elizabeth Lynn Snipes, age 87, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at her home. She was born October 12, 1936, in Jefferson, SC, a daughter of the late J.W. Lynn and the late Iva Serena Boone Lynn and was the loving wife of the late Bobby E. Snipes. Mrs. Snipes retired from Springs Industries as a weaver for over 30 years. She was a very witty and intelligent lady who loved telling jokes and remembered everything. She never forgot birthdays and her favorite thing to say was "alright now". She enjoyed making flowers, reading, quilting, sewing, and cooking. One of her most favorable meals were her chicken and dumplings. Mrs. Snipes was very family oriented; she loved each and every member of her family wholeheartedly.

Mrs. Snipes is survived by her daughter, Penny Bowers, and her husband, Michael of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Quinton Adams (Brittany), Kaleb Adams (Hannah Strickland), Danielle Bowers, and Micah Bowers; three great-grandchildren, Carter Troy Adams, Aubrey Jones, and Kai Jones; two siblings, Mitchell Lynn (Joanne), and Lois Boone, both of Jefferson; two very special nieces and caregivers, Elaine Flynn (Phil), and Dana Robinson (T.J.); many other special nieces and nephews; and a large extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby E. Snipes; her parents, J.W. and Iva Lynn; two brothers, John Carol Lynn, and Joe Mack Lynn; and five sisters, Aline Eubanks, Hazil Horton, Jenny Wright, Margaret Knight, and Bonnie Lynn.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Snipes will be 11:00 am Friday, June 28, 2024, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Rayvon Moore. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
