LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Janet Mackey Hunt, age 72, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021, at home. She was born May 14, 1949, in Rock Hill, SC, a daughter of the late Jesse Mackey and Jessie Smith Mackey and was the wife of Ronald Jerrel Hunt.  Janet was a very big fan of Elvis Pressley.  She enjoyed going to the mountains and Christmas was her favorite time of year.  Janet loved her family especially her grandchildren.  She was a member of New Harvest Freewill Baptist Church.

Janet is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ronald Hunt; her son, Rick Hunt; her daughter, Lisa Hancock (Jody); two grandchildren, Jaime Marshall (Anthony), and Chandler Long; five great grandchildren, Braydon Hunt, Eliajah Hough, Alexis Hough, Madisyn Marshall, and Abel Marshall; two brothers, Frank Mackey (Brenda), and Fred Mackey; two sisters, Lynn Eudy, and Mary McManus (fiancé, Robert Story); a brother-in-law, Randy Hunt (Nada); a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Medlin (Ronnie); and many nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by a son, Jamie Hunt; her parents; a brother-in-law, Steve Eudy; and a sister-in-law, Brenda Hunt.

The Celebration of Life Service for Janet will be 11:00 am Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Wayne Smith.  Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will speak with friends following the graveside.
