LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Jane Carter Nunnery, age 83, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born December 29, 1941, in Lancaster, SC, a daughter of the late John Ervin Carter and the late Nellie Mae DeVinney Carter. Mrs. Nunnery had a very devoted heart for helping children, youth, and young adults.  Her passion was to teach them how to successfully better themselves, their relationships, and their understanding of life and know they are worthy.  She enjoyed cross-stitching and loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Nunnery is survived by her three children, Sherri Gardner Broughton, Carmen Gardner Efird (Darrell), and Chris Nunnery (Kelly); four grandchildren, Sunni Nicole Gantt (Jason), Jared Douglas Broughton, Karli Grayson Nunnery, and Carter Barron Nunnery; two great-grandchildren, Eden and Fisher Gantt; one brother, Roy Baxter Carter; and many special family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nellie Carter; and three brothers, John Wesley Carter, Donald L. Carter, and Robert E. Carter.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Nunnery will be 12:00 pm Saturday, January 18, 2025, at New Hope Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Patrick Clark. The family of Mrs. Nunnery will hold a private burial.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm, one and a half hours prior to the service, in the church sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, Youth Fund, 3731 Lynwood Dr, Lancaster, SC 29720.
