LANCASTER, SC :::::::::::Mr. James W. "Bill" Broughton, age 88, died Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born October 10, 1923 in Lancaster County, the son of the late James Zed Broughton and Lillie Deese Broughton and was the husband of Vera Gainer Broughton. Mr. Broughton retired from Leigh High, was a retired Magistrate for Lancaster County, a lifetime Mason with Jackson Lodge, and a 50 year member of Camp Creek United Methodist Church. Mr. Broughton is survived by his wife of 66 years, Vera G. Broughton of the home, 2 daughters, Joyce Moseff and her husband Michael of Indian Land, and Barbara McGee and her husband Kenneth of Lancaster, a sister, Mildred B. Byrd of Lancaster, a grandson, David Riggins and his wife Ashley and a great grandson, Henry Riggins. Mr. Broughton was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Broughton and a sister, Virgie Mae Gainer. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Broughton will be 3:00pm Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Camp Creek United Methodist Church by Rev. Mike Catoe, Rev. Ray Robinson and Eulogist David Riggins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
