LANCASTER, SC :::::::::: Mr. James "J.C." Phillips, age 92, died Friday, August 28, 2009 at Lancaster Convalescent Center. He was born June 26, 1917 in Lancaster County the son of the late Preston Phillips and Nettie Hammonds Phillips Lowery and was the husband of Henrietta Coates Phillips. Mr. Phillips retired from Springs Industries and Herbert Murray Construction, was a member of Woodman of the World #376 and Pineview Baptist Church and served our great country in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, Henrietta C. Phillips of Lancaster, 2 brothers, Melvin Phillips of Salisbury, NC, and Jarvis Lowery of Heath Springs, 2 sisters, Martha Lynn Edwards of Heath Springs and Mae Dixon of Lancaster, and 2 nieces, Brenda C. Broach and Vicky Coates both of Lancaster. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Phillips will be 3:00 pm, Sunday afternoon, August 30, 2009 at The Chapel of Hartley Funeral Home by Rev. Bobby Price with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family will receive friends one hour before service time, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm at other times at the home of his sister, Martha Lynn Edwards, 3642 Rocky River Road, Heath Springs.
