LANCASTER, SC.........Mr. James Kenneth Blankenship Sr., age 51, died Friday, November 27, 2015 at his home. He was born April 22, 1964 in Columbus, GA., the son of Merrell Blankenship and Mary R. Wooten Blankenship. Mr. Blankenship was the Facilities Manager at BASF in Charlotte. He was a huge Colts football fan, enjoyed organizing family events, loved playing fantasy football and listening to 80's music. He was a family man and truly loved spending time with his family. Mr. Blankenship was a lifetime member of AMVETS and served our great country in Operation Desert Storm. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Blankenship is survived by his parents, Merrell and Mary Blankenship; two sons, James Kenneth "Ken" Blankenship, Jr., and Ace Dominic Blankenship of Lancaster; a daughter, Breanna Starr Blankenship Banks and her husband Taylor McKenzie Banks of Lancaster; a brother, Jack Blankenship and his wife Taylor of Racine, OH; two sisters, Lisa Blankenship Whited and her husband Bobby Joe of Lancaster and Jamie Webb of Columbus, OH; significant other of 8 years, Jeri Graham; four grandchildren, Nova Beck Blankenship, Conner Bentley Blankenship, Kenly Elyse Banks and Aria Grace Banks; and special family members, Christopher (Jamie) Whited, Bobby, Fisher and Hunter Whited, Tori (Will) Ford, Jordan Blankenship, Ethan Rhyne, Chandler Blankenship, Joe Blankenship, Kenny Blankenship, and James Blankenship; his two fur babies, Duke and Daisy and many family and friends.
Mr. Blankenship was preceded in death by a grandfather, Merrell Blankenship, Sr.; a grandmother, Hester Chaffin Todd; a nephew, Bobby Joe "BJ" Whited and a niece, Brandi Profitt.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Blankenship will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Howard Penegar. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The Family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, two hours prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC and suggest memorial contributions be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
