INDIAN LAND, SC :::::::::: Mr. James Robert Keene, age 64, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center, Waxhaw. He was born January 12, 1948 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Robert T. Keene and Joanne Freed. Mr. Keene worked in management for General Electric for 39 years. He was a member of the Sun City Softball League and the Charlotte Senior Softball League. Mr. Keene was very active and ran 10 marathons in his life, and served our great military in the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class, and a Vietnam Veteran from 1968 to 1969. Mr. Keene was of the Methodist Faith.

Mr. Keene is survived by his wife Marlene Keene, two sons, Chad Keene and his wife Kate, and Jeff Keene and his wife Melissa, his mother Joanne Freed of California, a brother John Keene, three sisters, Susan, Barbara, and Kathy, two grandchildren, Paige Charlotte Keene and Matthew James Keene.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Keene will be 6:30 pm Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Burton Funeral Home Chapel in Erie, PA. In Lieu of Flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the SCCL Volunteers and Helping Hands, attn: Rose Good, 1353 Del Webb Blvd, Indian Land, SC 29707.
