LANCASTER, SC ::::::::::Mr. James William Helms, Sr. age 89, of 2661 Charlotte Highway, died Thursday, March 12, 2009 at his home. He was born October 6, 1919 in Darlington, SC, the son of the late William Washington Helms and Mildred Culp Helms and was the husband of the late Sybil Roberts Helms. Mr. Helms retired from the United States Postal Service, was a member of the American Legion and Shiloh ARP Church. Mr. Helms served our great country in the United States Army Corps of Engineers at Los Alamos, New Mexico during World War II.Mr. Helms was survived by a son, James W. Helms, Jr. and his wife Renette of Rock Hill, a daughter, Susan H. Caskey and her husband Gerald of Greer, SC, a brother, Rev. Jerry Franklin Helms of Newport News, VA, a sister, Ann H. Gore of Sumter, SC, 4 grandchildren, Jordan Caskey, Jonathan Caskey, Lauren Helms and Ashley Helms, and 4 great grandchildren.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Helms will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Shiloh ARP Church by Rev.
