James William Brashier (age 95) went to be with the Lord November 15, 2024. James, son of Raymond Quincy Brashier and Billie Patty Brashier, was born October 11, 1929 in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended Woodlawn High School and thru the gracious assistance of Donald Comer of the Avondale Mills Company, was able to attend the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) graduating with a BA in Industrial Management. James spent his entire 33-year career with the Western Electric Co. having only an early break for service to the United State Army serving in Korea. During his career, James worked on many civilian and defense projects from gyroscope development to electromagnetic radio interference from nuclear testing.
He met his wife Marlene Williams at work, and they were married 66 years before she predeceased him in 2022. The two traveled all over the US and lived on both ends of the country. James was a loving father to his children Lisa B. Cooper and Raymond W. Brashier who will always miss him.
James is survived by his children, three grandchildren (Sarah Gibson Kotronis, Laura Brashier Harter, Brandon Brashier), and four great-grandchildren (Ian, Elijah, and Abigail Kotronis and H. Walton Harter IV). A sister, Irmalene B. Menefee predeceased him.
