LANCASTER, SC :::::::::: Mr. James "Jimmie" Ackerman, age 82, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Piedmont Medical Center. He was born September 14, 1930 in Andrews, SC, the son of the late Major Lee Ackerman and Rhoda Norton Ackerman and was the husband of Mary Ellen Gay Ackerman. Mr. Ackerman retired from Zachary Construction Company, was a Mason, a Shriner with Hejaz Temple and a member of Springdale Baptist Church.

Mr. Ackerman is survived by his wife Mary Ellen Ackerman, a son, Ken Ackerman of Rock Hill, a daughter, Debbie Khoury of Lancaster, 2 sisters, Hazel Hegler of Lancaster and Vera Haynes and her husband Sidney of Lancaster, 4 grandchildren, Jennifer and Natalie Khoury, Brantlee and Hailey Ackerman.

Mr. Ackerman was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Robert Ackerman, Thomas Ackerman, Leonard Ackerman, Lee Ackerman, Jr. , Kenneth Ackerman and Ted Ackerman and 2 sisters, Joanne Ghent and Bertie Moore.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Ackerman will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 26, 2013 at The Chapel of Hartley - Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Jerry Devenny.

The Family of Mr. Ackerman will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm, Saturday at the funeral home and in lieu flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Elyse Rebecca Hardin Foundation, PO Box 3096, Lancaster SC 29721.

Visitation Saturday, Janurary 26th at funeral home.
