Obituary

LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mr. Jack Graham Sistare, age 82, died Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born November 12, 1932 in Lancaster, the son of the late Dickson Barnes Sistare and Harriett Elizabeth Graham Sistare and was the husband of the late Martha Anne Baker Sistare. Mr. Sistare retired from Springs Industries, was a cattle farmer and an avid Gamecock fan. He was a member of Douglas Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, Elder, Sunday school teacher and youth group leader. He was a member of the Men of the Church and previously served as Captain of the Men's softball team. He was a Shriner of the Hejaz Temple, a member of the South 200 Breakfast Club and the Springs Bowling League. Mr. Sistare served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He spent much of his time on the USS Windham Bay and in Guam.

Mr. Sistare is survived by two daughters; Stephanie Sistare Scott and her husband, Evan and Amy Sistare Taylor and her husband, Toby both of Lancaster; a nephew, Mark Elliott and his wife, Laura of Annapolis, MD; a sister, Louise Sistare Waldrop and her husband, George of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Megan and Katie Scott, Graham and Anson Taylor and Caroline and Jack Elliott, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Sistare was preceded in death by two brothers, Boyd Sistare and Joe Sistare, and three sisters, Virginia Plyler, Mary Barnes Elliott and Amelia Gardner.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Sistare will be 4:00 pm, Thursday afternoon, February 12, 2015 at Douglas Presbyterian Church by Dr. Harriss Ricks. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home of his daughter, Stephanie Scott. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Douglas Presbyterian Church Choir Fund, 2325 Sunday Place, Lancaster, SC 29720 or Lancaster High School Booster Club, 617 Normandy Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
