LANCASTER, SC:::::::::: Mr. Jack Bradford McManus, age 79, died Wednesday, April21, 2010 at Piedmont Medical Center. He was born August 7, 1930 in Kershaw County, the son of the late Thomas Emmitt McManus and Vadie Laney McManus and was preceded by his wife of 49 years, Mary Fisher McManus. Mr. McManus retired from Springs Industries - Transportation with over 30 years of service, was a former Mason and a member of Second Baptist Church. Mr. McManus is survived by a daughter, Michele McManus Howard and her husband Micheal Anthony of Fort Mill, a son, Stanley Edward "Eddie" Phillips of Summerville, a sister, Catherine McManus of Talladega, AL, and a grandson, Jackson Anthony Howard. Mr. McManus was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Thomas McManus.The Family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of Morningside Assisted Living of Rock Hill for their care and love of our parents. Jack was especially blessed to have Sherry Elks as his caregiver and friend. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. McManus will be 11:00 am, Saturday, April 24, 2010 at The Chapel of Hartley Funeral Home by Rev. Ken McCaskill and Rev. Joanne Sizoo with entombment to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Family of Mr. McManus will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday evening, April 23, 2010 at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Hwy, Lancaster and suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to UNC Charlotte Relay for Life, www.unccrelay.org and click donate to the team name Dean of Students Office.
