LANCASTER, SC… Mr. Jack Johnson, age 95, died Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the Wayne T. Patrick House in Rock Hill.  He was born January 15, 1924 in Lancaster, SC, a son of the late William Lawrence Johnson and Idell Perry Johnson and was the husband of Peggy Mobley Johnson.  Mr. Johnson retired from Springs Industries.   He was in the United States Army and served in WWII and enjoyed sharing war stories.  Mr. Johnson enjoyed hunting, fishing, buying shiny new cars, NASCAR racing and was a gunsmith for many years.  Mr. Johnson was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who loved spending time with his family and friends.  He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 73 years, Peggy Mobley Johnson; two daughters, Jackie Clark and Debbie Gillis; two granddaughters, Kristi Hill and her husband, Russell, and Kathryn Catoe and her husband, Wesley; eight great grandchildren, Gracie, Erin, Noah, Britain, Everett, Jack, Emma Klair and Rhett; and a special family friend, Shirley Mixon.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Johnson will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Marty Simmons.  Private burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 22, 2019, prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC.  For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne T.
