LANCASTER, SCMr. Jack Durham Estridge, age 85, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 at his home. He was born November 9, 1932 in Lancaster, a son of the late Ira Durham Estridge and Annie Carnes Estridge and was the husband of Evelyn Laney Estridge. Mr. Estridge worked at Springs Bleachery for 37 years and was a self-employed painter for 22 years. He served in the United States Army and was a Mason. He was a jack of all trades, enjoyed gardening and fishing. Mr. Estridge loved going to the mountains, family beach trips and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church.
Mr. Estridge is survived by his wife of 55 years, Evelyn L. Estridge; two daughters, Susan ONeal (Tony), and Lisa Lucas; four grandchildren, Lanie ONeal, Noah Lucas, Sydney Lucas, and Lacie ONeal; and a sister, Mary Carter.
Mr. Estridge was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Ira Madison Estridge and Joe Estridge.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Estridge will be 11:00 am Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church by Rev. Scott Efrid and Rev. Larry King Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC and suggest memorial contributions be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 5908 Tabernacle Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
