LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::: Mrs. Irene Kirton Newton, age 89, died Monday, June 22, 2009 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born April 1, 1920 in Williamsburg County, the daughter of the late Joseph Kirton and Rosa Casselman Kirton and was the wife of the late William Ed Newton. Mrs. Newton retired from Springs Industries-Lancaster Plant and was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church.Mrs. Newton is survived by 3 daughters, Helen Rose Helms, JoAnn Newton Mosier and her husband Jimmy of Lancaster and Lawanda Newton Pegram and her husband Wayne of Florence, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.Mrs. Newton was preceded in death by 2 sons, Laurie L. Newton and George Warren Moore, 2 brothers, Furman Kirton and Joe Kirton, and 3 sisters, Corine Johnson, Mirtie Smith and Ada Ethridge.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Newton will be 3:00 pm, Wednesday afternoon, June 24, 2009 at First Pentecostal Holiness Church by Rev. Jerald Starnes and Rev. Tim McKenzie with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.The Family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm in the church sanctuary, and suggest memorial contributions be made to White Oak Manor - Patient Activity Fund, 253 Craig Manor Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.The Family will be at the home of her daughter, JoAnn Mosier, 2352 Country Club Drive, Lancaster, SC.
