LANCASTER, SC :::::::::::Ms. Iona Robinson Watson, age 90, died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Lancaster Convalescent Center where she was a resident. She was born April 2, 1921 in Georgia, the daughter of the late Albert Robinson and Bertha Threatt Robinson. Ms. Watson was a retired sales clerk for Belk and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Ms. Watson is survived by a daughter, Brenda Poovey, a sister, Mildred Carson, special niece, Dot Threatt, and long time friends, Bettie and Charlie Chaney all of Lancaster. Ms. Watson was preceded in death by a daughter, Adele Watson, 2 brothers, Ralph and Drew Robinson, and 5 sisters, Jessie Horton Sistare, Eunice Denton, Thelma Catoe, Lucille Roddey and Elizabeth Robinson. The Celebration of Life Graveside Funeral Service for Ms. Watson will be 2:00 pm, Friday, February 24, 2012 at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Patrick Clark. Burial will follow.The Family of Ms. Watson will receive friends immediately following the service and suggests memorials be made to New Hope Baptist Church, PO Box 1778, Lancaster, SC 29721.
