IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hugo
Castanheira
May 8, 1976 – January 23, 2022
LANCASTER, SC ~ Hugo V. Castanheira, 45, left this earth to be with Jesus on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Born May 8, 1976, in Lisbon Portugal, Hugo V. Castanheira was the beloved son of Antonio M. Castanheira and Celia Maria Castanheira. The Castanheira family emigrated from Portugal to the United States in 1986. One of Hugo's proudest moments was becoming an official citizen of the United States in 2006. His family settled in Cinnaminson NJ, and Hugo attended Cinnaminson High School. Upon graduation, Hugo earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Rutgers University. Hugo went above and beyond all expectations in every area of life, including the positions he's held. As a dedicated employee, manager, and mentor, Hugo achieved successful careers at Acme Markets, Frito-Lay, and Nestle. A spirit of excellence in all tasks large and small was evident in everything Hugo put his hands and mind to.
A faithful family-man, a loving father to three sons, a devoted husband of 20 years, and a dedicated son and brother are just a few of the many attributes of this great man. Hugo found joy and purpose as a dedicated provider for his wife and sons, working "as unto the Lord," ensuring his family's needs were met. Hugo spoke proudly of the wonderful family he'd built with his wife, Brandi. That same loyalty and love radiated from Hugo to his friends, neighbors, relatives, and co-workers. Hugo had a gift of connecting with people and instantly making them feel like family. He loved to exercise that gift by being ready, willing, and able to help anyone with anything they'd need. Many benefitted from his amazing cooking skills, as he enjoyed preparing tasty creations of all types. He exuded a giving spirit coupled with a servant's heart.
Hugo cherished spending time with his family and friends, as well as watching football and soccer with his beloved sons. As an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, he never missed a game, sporting his Eagles jersey ever time. Looking forward to conversations around the fire pit with friends and neighbors, he also found joy in the simple things of life. Daily walks about the neighborhood brought him pleasure. Hugo treasured moments at the beach with his parents, wife, and sons. With a dedicated love for God, Hugo trusted the Lord to carry him through the challenges of life, as was evident through his favorite scripture, Philippians 4:6.
Hugo will be fondly remembered for his laughter, ability to embrace everyone, and the diligence and hard work he poured into every arena of life. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Brandi Castanheira; loving sons, Mason, Christian, and Aaron; parents, Antonia and Celia Castanheira; sister, Ines Meyers (Scott) and nieces, Lili and Olivia as well as grandmother, Maria Antonieta da Conceicao Viegas Pereira.
