LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Hugh Evans Hallman, age 87, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born December 3, 1930 in Lancaster County, a son of the late Ebenezer Erskine Hallman and Nellie Helms Hallman. He was the husband of Reba Sowell Hallman. Mr. Hallman retired from AT&T and served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Country Music Makers Band, enjoyed playing golf, gardening and collecting antiques. He also enjoyed going to Bojangles each morning with his breakfast buddies and was a Mason with the Camp Creek Masonic Lodge. Mr. Hallman was a member of Unity A.R.P. Church and served over the years as an Elder, Deacon, Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Sunday School teacher and was a member of the Claude Steele Bible Class.

Mr. Hallman is survived by his wife of 68 years, Reba Sowell Hallman; a son, Tim Hallman and his wife, Lisa; a daughter, Terry Hallman Bucca; five grandchildren, Donovan Stacks, Justin Hallman and his wife, Ashly, Jena Dean and her husband, Jad, Alex Bucca and Susan Bucca; and two great grandchildren, Libba Dean and Grayson Hallman.

Mr. Hallman was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Hinkle Hallman and a sister, Dorothy Ann Privette.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Hallman will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Unity A.R.P. Church by Rev. Charles Hammond and Dr. Guy Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 pm, Friday evening, December 15, 2017 at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Unity A.R.P. Church, 3495 Unity Church Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
