IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen
Worcester
March 7, 1927 – September 19, 2023
INDIAN LAND, SC – It is with profound sadness, yet deep gratitude, that our beloved mother, Helen Worcester, 96, passed away peacefully at her home, September 19, 2023. She was born 1927 in Elyria, Ohio, to the late Russell Beck and Hazel Sted (nee Lucas). She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 76 years, Leroy, and brother, Harold.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Joanne (Ken, deceased) Jones, and Janice (Carl, deceased) Tucker; sons, Brian (Marie) Worcester, Bruce (Denise) Worcester and Tom (Donna) Worcester; grandchildren, Daina Worcester, Bruce (Megan) Worcester and Staci (Sylvie) Jones; and great grandchildren.
Married to her childhood sweetheart, Leroy Worcester, in 1944, Helen was a devoted wife and mother. Her life's commitment was to her husband and family, providing a loving and nurturing environment focused on sharing, fairness, respect for each other, independence, a strong work ethic and always encouraging each child to pursue his or her dreams and life path. Throughout the years, her children and grandchildren knew they were deeply loved and that family was her first consideration. Her sacrifices were many as she surrendered her pursuit of art and creative talent for family. In addition to she and her husband raising five children, she enjoyed several secretarial positions with various companies, and in 1988 retired from Ferro Corporation, where she was widely respected for her knowledge of the chemical industry.
Upon retirement, she and her beloved husband, Leroy, spent many years in their Low Country home in South Carolina, where they enjoyed traveling, gardening, art and participating in various community activities. In 2012, they moved to another South Carolina community, where they spent their remaining years together enjoying family and a sedate lifestyle.
Her life lessons, warmth, humor, humility, and love of family will forever be missed. Services will be private, attended by family members only, with interment in Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC, where she and her husband will be together once again.
