LANCASTER, SCMr. Hazel S. Red Horton, age 93, died Saturday, September 3, 2016 at his home. He was born June 7, 1923 in Chesterfield, SC, a son of the late John Ervin Horton and Arria Jane Eubanks Horton and was the husband of Valnetta Catoe Horton. Mr. Horton retired from Springs Industries-Engineering Department. He was a Mason with Jackson Masonic Lodge 53, a Shriner with Hejaz Temple and enjoyed gardening. Mr. Horton was a member of Crestview Baptist Church. He enjoyed working with the RAs and served as Deacon and received the Deacon for Life Award.

Mr. Horton is survived by his wife of 71 years, Valnetta Catoe Horton; a son, Philip Horton and his wife Tonya of Lancaster; Lori Horton Ridley and her husband Dan of Dallas, NC; a brother, Johnny Hinson and his wife Margaret; two sisters, Betty Gainer of Lancaster and Marguerite Baker of Beaufort, SC; four grandchildren, Melanie Jenkins, Brett Horton, Alan Richardson and Adam Richardson and 5 great grandchildren.

Mr. Horton was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil L. Horton and Bazel E. Horton.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Horton will be 11:00 am Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Crestview Baptist Church by Rev. Scott Robinson and Rev. Gary Harris. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
