LANCASTER, SC :::::::::::Mrs. Hazel Ackerman Hegler, age 92, died September 17, 2013 at her home. She was born December 19, 1920 in Andrews, SC, the daughter of the late Major Lee Ackerman, Sr. and Rhoda Bell Norton Ackerman and was the wife of the late Pierce H. "Buster" Hegler. Mrs. Hegler retired from Springs Industries was very active in her community where she served for over 10 years as a Volunteer for Springs Memorial Hospital and Lancaster Care Center. She was also an active member of Springdell Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, GA's and was active with the youth.

Mrs. Hegler is survived by a son, Joe Hegler and his wife Debby of Lancaster, a sister, Vera Haynes and her husband Sidney of Lancaster and her devoted caregivers, Jannie Wright, Nancy McManus, Eva Plyler, Dianne Deese, and Linda Jordan.

Mrs. Hegler was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Hegler, 7 brothers, Robert Ackerman, Leonard Ackerman, Lee Ackerman, Jr., Ted Ackerman, Kenneth Ackerman, Thomas Ackerman and Jimmy Ackerman and 2 sisters, Bertie Moore and Joanne Ghent.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Hegler will be 11:00 am, Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Springdell Baptist Church by Rev. Donnie Tillman. Private Burial.

The Family of Mrs. Hegler will receive friends one hour after the service and suggest memorials be made to Springdell Baptist Church, 1420 Springdell Church Road, Lancaster SC 29720.
