LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Harvey H. Rima Sr., age 84, passed away from this earth peacefully on July 8, 2021 at his home.
He was born October 14, 1936 in Syracuse, NY and had lived in the Carolinas for over 42 years.
Harvey served our country in the United States Navy and retired from land development in North Carolina.
He was an entrepreneur owning two restaurants and three furniture stores and took on many challenges throughout his life with a fierce determination. He was an adventurer who loved to travel and lived life to the fullest. Harvey had a welcoming smile, was hard-working, humble, creative, intelligent and a bit competitive. Most of all Harvey had the biggest heart and was willing to help serve others in any way.
Harvey's biggest passion was his family. He came from a large family and had a large family of his own. Harvey is survived by his wife, Sandra of 21 years, his two sisters, Verna Roehm and JoDell George (Richard), his nine children; Deborah (John), Pamela (Rusty), Susan (Bryant), Katherine (Tim), Sherry (Richard), Wendy (Bobby), Harvey Jr (Karen), Robert (Hind) and Scott. Harvey also has twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Harvey is preceded in death by his former wife, Joan Rima, parents, Hilton and Cecilia Rima, sisters Cecilia Jean and Mary along with brothers Carl and James.
Harvey will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends. A memorial service to honor his life will be at Burgess Funeral Home, Lancaster, SC on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 10:30 AM. A reception for friends and family will follow from noon to 2:00 PM at Tree Tops Club House, 2198 Acadia Falls Lane, Lancaster, SC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association.
