LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Harvey Alfred Carnes, age 74, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Atrium Health Union. He was born March 26, 1947, in Lancaster, the son of the late Claude Carnes and Jerushia Belk Carnes and was the husband of Pat Gainey Carnes.  Harvey's favorite thing was to work on and ride his Harley motorcycle.  He also enjoyed watching old westerns.  Wrestling was enjoyed by Harvey (he retired with a belt) and his brother Mert and they still traveled to watch wrestling matches together. Harvey loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren.  He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 28 years, Pat Carnes; two sons, Richard Dixon (Lori) and Greg Dixon (Tina); two daughters, Leslie Stroud (Dwayne) and Leigh Darling (Bob); ten grandchildren, Cody Dixon, Kaylee Dixon, Christopher Thomas, Kristian Stroud, Carleigh Stroud (Matthew), Katie Dixon (Sal), Alex Dixon (Courtney), Conner Dixon, Tyler Dixon, and Emily Darling; one great grandchild, Sebastian Vanallen; three brothers, Jerry Carnes, Jack Carnes, and T.C. Carnes (Barbara); a sister-in-law, Susan Carnes; mother of his daughters, Judy Carnes; and many nieces and nephews.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Mert Carnes; a sister, Betty Joyce Bowden; a brother-in-law, Carl Bowden; and a sister-in-law, Gladys Carnes.

The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Harvey will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
