Obituary

LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mr. Harry Lake McCain, age 88, died Wednesday, December 24, 2014. He was born July 11, 1926 in Lancaster, the son of the late James Kirk McCain and Myrtle McCain McCain. Mr. McCain was twice married, first to the late Betty Jean Lane McCain, his wife of 59 years and later to Mildred Averitt McCain. Mr. McCain retired from Celanese Corporation and served our country in the United States Army during World War II. He was Past Master with Camp Creek Masonic Lodge #317 and recently received his 60 year pin. He was a member and current Elder of Unity A.R.P. Church and had previously served as Youth Leader and Deacon.


Mr. McCain is survived by his wife, Mildred Averitt McCain of Lawrence, Kansas, a son, Roger L. McCain and his wife Judy of Greenville, SC, a daughter, Karen M. Baxley and her husband Don of Lancaster, six grandchildren, Shawn L. McCain, Leah Nail, Morgan Chism, Joshua K. McCain, Chandler Baxley and Bailey Baxley, seven great grandchildren, Kaden L. McCain, Alexander L. McCain, Preston R. McCain, Ashlyn B. McCain, Braden Nail, Tanner W. McCain, and Brendon S. Latham and a sister-in-law, Betty M. McCain of Lancaster.

Mr. McCain was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Dale McCain and Joe Ewart McCain and a sister, Mildred McCain Hinson.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. McCain will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Unity A.R.P. Church by Rev. Charles Hammond with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The Family will receive friends at his home and following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall and suggest memorial contributions be made to Unity A.R.P. Church, 3495 Unity Church Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
