LANCASTER, SC:::::::::: Mr. Harrell Harrison Thompson, age 86, of 1135 Hampton Grace Avenue, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Piedmont Medical Center. He was born September 28, 1923 in Bethune, SC, the son of the late Hugh Solomon Thompson and Daisy Maude Stokes Thompson and was the husband of the late Ernestine Adams Thompson. Mr. Thompson retired from Springs Industries, was a member of White Springs Baptist Church and served our great country in the United States Merchant Marines and Navy during the D-Day Invasion of World War II. Mr. Thompson is survived by a son, Steven H. Thompson of the home, a daughter, Janice Varney and her husband Michael of Lancaster, a brother Olin Stokes Thompson of Camden, 4 grandchildren, Brandon Varney, Brandi Martinez, Cheyenne Varney and Adam Varney and 2 great grandchildren, Kelsy Stokes and Jacob Porter. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Thompson, and 4 sisters, Ivy Yandle, Vera Murff, Faye Thompson, and Sarah Copeland. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Thompson will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at White Springs Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Owens. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mr. Thompson will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 pm Tuesday September 14, 2010 at White Springs Baptist Church Family Life Center and suggest memorial contributions be made to the Lottie Moon Missions Fund.
