LANCASTER, SC::::::::::: Mr. Harold Smith McManus, age 74, died Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born April 22, 1941 in Lancaster, the son of the late Lewis Raymond McManus, Sr. and Mary Catherine Ragsdale Knight and was the husband of Dianne Morris McManus. Mr. McManus retired from Morrison Textile Machinery Company as Vice President of Manufacturing after 47 years of service. He served our country in the United States Navy and served on the USS Saratoga. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He served as Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union in Myrtle Beach and also served on the Board of Directors for SCANA Association of Investors. Mr. McManus was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and formerly served as a Deacon and an Elder. He also served on the Advisory Board for the Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina.

Mr. McManus is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dianne Morris McManus; his children, Kenneth H. McManus and his wife, Renee of Columbia, Kay Dantzler and her husband, Michael of Birmingham, AL and Kevin M. McManus and his wife, Erin of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren, Rachel Dantzler, Katherine Dantzler, Julia Dantzler, Caroline McManus, Callie Grace McManus, Whitaker McManus and Eden McManus; a brother, Frank B. McManus and his wife, Opal of Indian Land; a sister, Louise Gravley and her husband, Walt of Six Mile, SC; a sister in law, Brenda McManus of Lancaster and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. McManus was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lewis R. McManus, Jr.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. McManus will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Grace Presbyterian Church by Rev. Marty Simmons and Rev. Russ Wimmer. Entombment will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday evening, January 1, 2016 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster and suggest memorial contributions be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, 1026 Grace Avenue, Lancaster, SC 29720 or Thornwell Children's Home, 3025 S. Broad Street, Clinton, SC 29325.
