LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Glenda Lou Williams Powell, age 79, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Atrium Health Main. She was born November 5, 1942, in Kershaw County, SC, a daughter of the late Clifford Nebraska Williams and Janet Robbie Williams and was the wife of the late Bobby Lee Powell. Glenda received her bachelor's degree at Wingate College in Accounting and went on to receive her master's degree at Winthrop. She retired from Bowater as an accountant. Glenda was an avid Gamecock fan and was past president and treasurer of the Lancaster County Gamecock Club. She was also a member of the Lancaster Moose Lodge. She and Bobby loved camping, going to the beach, and going to ballgames. Glenda and Bobby were big supporters of Shriners and Hope of Lancaster.

Glenda is survived by a brother, Jerry Lee Williams (Hilda); a close nephew and caregiver, Francis "Butch" Ghent; and many nieces and nephews.

Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Powell; her parents; a brother, Sloan Edward Williams; and two sisters, June Jovanelly and Violet Roach.

The Celebration of Life Service for Glenda will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 15, 2022, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Larry Helm.  Entombment will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum.
