LANCASTER ~ Mrs. Glenda Rayburn Lowery, age 82, of Lancaster, SC, passed peacefully Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Atrium Main Hospital in Charlotte, NC. She was born December 24, 1941, in Marion, NC; and grew up in Glenwood, NC. She was reunited in Heaven with her savior, Jesus Christ, her parents, Clyde W. Rayburn and Frances Grace Rayburn, and her beloved husband of 44 years, Rev. Charles H. Lowery. Glenda was known for her love and described by many as a "sweet", "Godly", "faithful", and "gracious" woman. She loved Jesus, her family, her fellow man, music, books, and quilting. Glenda was a devoted Christian woman who knew she was called to use her musical talents for her faith. She first served as a church pianist at the age of 13 and continued this ministry throughout her life. She served as a helpmate for her husband, Charles, in his duties as a Minister of Music, singing in choirs and playing piano for many churches. She had a passion for knowledge and reading. Glenda earned her B.A. in English from Howard College in 1963. She worked for 22 years as a Librarian for Lancaster County Libraries and will be fondly remembered as the "Book Mobile Lady". Glenda truly cared for others and touched the lives of many. She exemplified Christian values and was loved by those who knew her.

She is survived by two brothers, James Rayburn (Joyce) of Savannah, GA, and Michael Rayburn of Cocoa Beach, FL; two daughters, Laura Franklin of Lancaster, and her two children, Christina Payne and Erik Payne; and her daughter Alison Cole (Kenneth) of Lancaster, and their four sons Aedan, Christopher, Kiernan and Killian; as well as numerous loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will truly be missed.

The Funeral Service will be 4:00 PM, Saturday, February 17, 2024, at First Baptist Church Lancaster, SC, officiated by Rev. Randall Hatcher, Rev. Warren Johnson, and Rev. Gary Harris.

The Interment will be 1:00 PM, Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Glenwood Cemetery (369 Huntsville Dr #83, Marion, NC), officiated by Rev. Jim Brewer.
