LANCASTER, SC::::::::::: Mrs. Gladys Carter Carnes, age 71, died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at her home. She was born October 23, 1942 in Rock Hill, the daughter of the late Johnny Carter and Beatrice Fields Carter and was the wife of Jack Carnes. Mrs. Carnes retired from Springs Industries and enjoyed making crafts and painting. She was a member of Union Baptist Church.

Mrs. Carnes is survived by her husband, Jack Carnes, two sons, Derrick Carnes and his wife Amy and Scotty Carnes and his wife Lynn, a daughter, Rhonda Holden and her significant other, Dean Robinson, all of Lancaster, five brothers, Jimmy Carter, Roger Carter and his wife Nadine, Calvin Carter and his wife Paulette, David Carter and his wife Cathy and Donald Carter and his wife Phyllis, all of Rock Hill, 12 grandchildren, Andrew, Brandon, Kyle, Peyton, True, Rev. Patrick Blackmon and his wife Brittany, Heather and her husband Joshua, Alyssa, Hannah, Emily, Lake and Gray, and one great grandchild, Finn.

She was preceded in death by a son, Chucky Carnes, a brother, Aaron Carter and a sister in law, Libby Carter.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Carnes will be 11:00 am Monday, May 12, 2014 at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church by Rev. Jessie Adams, Rev. Patrick Blackmon and Rev. David Inman. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday evening, May 11, 2014 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster and suggest memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, 133 S. Potter Road, Lancaster, SC 29720 or Hopewell United Methodist Church, 3734 Heyward Hough Road, Lancaster, SC
