Obituary

LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mrs. "Geri" Ruth D. Jackson, age 83, died at White Oak Manor. She was born February 26, 1930 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Coy Black Dowdle and Myrtle Young Dowdle and was the wife of the late Joe D. Jackson, Sr. Mrs. Jackson retired from Springs Industries - Customer Service Center and was member of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church where she was active with Senior Adults and the Visitation Ministry. She loved singing, playing music, writing hymns and was a dedicate Christian and church worker. Mrs. Jackson was also a great cook and a compassionate friend to everyone.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by a son, Ned L. Jackson of Lancaster, 3 sisters, Atress Roof of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Carol Lucas of Coolville, OH and Brenda Vincent of Kershaw, 4 grandchildren, Mike Jackson, Tripp Jackson and his wife Tonya, Jody Jackson, and Mandy Wedgeman, 5 great grandchildren, Ashley Sanders, Jessica Jackson, Brandon Jackson, Zack Mullis and Dylan Mullis, and many caring nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by a son, Joe Donald Jackson, Jr., a brother, C.B. Dowdle, and 4 sisters, Rosalee Adams, Vermell Adams, Oveta Williams, and Norma Stogner.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Jackson will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church by Rev. Jesse Adams and Rev. Jack Nunn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The Family of Mrs. Jackson will receive friends 2:00 - 5:00 pm Wednesday, June 18, 2013 at the home, 1832 New Cut Church Road, and suggest memorials to be made to Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, Adult Choir Fund, 133 S. Potter Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
