SHALLOTTE, NC ~ Mr. George Heyward Williams, age 92, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019.  He was born May 21, 1927 in Fort Mill, SC, a son of the late Heyward Minor Williams and Martha Ghant Williams and the husband of Eloise Faulkenberry Williams.  Mr. Williams enjoyed golfing, playing church league softball, gardening, and helping others.  He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Mr. Williams served in the United States Navy.  He was a member of Van Wyck Presbyterian Church.  He previously served as Sunday School Director and Deacon at Taylors Grove Baptist Church and an Elder at Van Wyck Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Eloise Faulkenberry Williams; his son, Eric Williams and his wife, Regina of Sunset Beach, NC; two granddaughters, Whitney Lopez (Josh) of Wilmington, NC and Ashley White (Justin) of Shallotte, NC; two great-grandchildren, Marcela Lopez and Aubrey White; a brother, Olin David (Tom) Williams; and a sister, Josephine Starnes.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jim Williams; and a sister, Mamie King.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Williams will be 11:00 am Monday, December 23, 2019 at Van Wyck Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Carson Overstreet and Dr. Joey McNeill.  Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Hwy., Lancaster, SC.
