LANCASTER, SC::::::::: Mr. George L. McDow, Sr., age 70, of 1610 Potter Road, died Friday, February 18, 2011 at his home. He was born February 21, 1940 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Belk McDow and Mildred Steele McDow and was the husband of Martha Dougherty McDow. Mr. McDow worked for L & C Railroad for 32 years, enjoyed spending time with his family, working on his farm, and was a member of Unity A.R.P. Church. Mr. McDow is survived by his wife of 48 years, Martha D. McDow of the home, a son, George L. McDow, Jr. and his wife Anita of Lancaster, a daughter, Debbie M. Plyler and her husband Dale of Lancaster, 3 granddaughters; Alison Plyler, Anslee McDow, and Maggie McDow, a brother, Robert McDow and his wife Emily of Heath Springs, and a sister, Ann Yow and her husband Paul of Monroe, NC. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. McDow will be 3:00 pm Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Unity A.R.P. Church by Rev. Charles Hammond. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mr. McDow will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Hartley Funeral Home and the family suggests memorials be made to Unity A.R.P. Church, 3495 Unity Church Road, Lancaster SC 29720.
