HEATH SPRINGS, SC ~ Mr. George Oliver Mason, Jr., age 66, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Heath Springs Residential Care Center. He was born October 2, 1952 in Hampton, S.C., a son of the late George Oliver Mason, Sr. and Francis Brunson Mason and is the husband of Trudie Bell Mason. He proudly called Heath Springs, S.C. home for the past 36 years. George loved his family, especially his granddaughters. He loved music and his Sunday afternoon races. George was a kind person and was always checking on others. He was a devoted member of First A.R.P Church- Lancaster, where he served as a member of the Chancel Choir.

George is survived by his wife, Trudie Bell Mason; a son, Dr. Phillip R. Mason (Kristen) of Winston Salem, N.C.; two daughters, Allyson M. Mason, of Edwards, C.O., and Emily Cauthen Mason, of Heath Springs, S.C.; two granddaughters, Emory Catherine and Charlotte Elizabeth; a brother, Kenneth Mason, of Walterboro, S.C.; and a nephew, Joshua Mason, of Furman, S.C.

George was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Nicholas Mason.

The Celebration of Life Service for George will be 3:00 pm, Thursday, November 29, 2018 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Dr. Kyle Sims and Rev. David Huffman. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Heath Springs, S.C. The family will receive friends at the home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Lancaster, 901 W. Meeting St., Lancaster, S.C. 29720.
