LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Gennie Lynn Mungo, age 83, passed away peacefully Tuesday August 15, 2017. She was born July 27, 1934 in Lancaster. She was the daughter of the late Kay Mackey and Ada Sims Mackey, and was the wife of the late Dwight Eugene Mungo. Mrs. Mungo was a wife, mother, grandmother and loving friend. She loved her family and all the children she cared for throughout the years; but most of all, she loved Jesus. Mrs. Mungo loved writing poems, flowers, the outdoors, and reading. She was a member at Rich Hill Baptist Church where she was the Sunday School teacher for over 50 years to the 2-3 year old class. If she were here today she would say, Dont grieve for me now, I am free.

Mrs. Mungo is survived by two sons, Damon Mungo and his wife, Leigh, and Devin Mungo; four grandchildren, Brandon Mungo, Jordan Mungo, Matthew Mungo and Chloe Mungo; and LuAnne McManus Mungo, mother of Brandon and Matthew.

Mrs. Mungo was preceded in death by two sisters, Marcine McManus and Clarice Edna Knight.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Mungo will be 11:00 am Friday, August 18, 2017 at Rich Hill Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Rod Yow. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the burial. The family suggest memorial contributions may be made to Rich Hill Baptist Church, 1557 E. Doc Garris Rd., Heath Springs, SC 29058.
