LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Gay Bryant Ghent, age 74, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026. She was born July 24, 1951, in Lancaster, the daughter of the late Kermit Fulton Bryant and the late Christine VirginiaWilliams Bryant and was the loving wife of Ronald “Ronny” Dean Ghent.

Mrs. Ghent was a devoted member of Shiloh ARP Church, where she faithfully attended and cherished the love and fellowship of her church family. She found joy in life’s simple blessings, whether tending to her flowers, baking for those she loved, or spending time at the beach with her family.

She especially enjoyed opening her home and heart to others, hosting gatherings and creating memories during family celebrations. Holidays were among her favorite times of the year because they brought her loved ones together.

Mrs. Ghent's greatest joy was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as “Memama.” Her love, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family will be remembered and cherished for generations to come.

Mrs. Ghent is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ronny Ghent; her daughter, Christi Whitaker (Eddie); her two sons, Guy Ghent (Jodie) and Derrick Ghent (Michele); seven grandchildren, Savannah Payne (Aaron), Annalee Dover, Paige Merck (Kevin), Kaylee Ghent (Slater), Zachary Dover, Dylan Ghent (Jennifer), Mason Ghent (Candice); four great-grandchildren, Millie Payne, Josie Merck, Deacon Ghent, and Kam Ghent; and two sisters, Nancy Winters and Diann Gaskin (Larry).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and Christine Bryant; two great-grandchildren, Ellie and Knox Payne; and her sister, Lucy Robertson.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Ghent will be 11:00am Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Shiloh ARP Church officiated by Rev. Dean Franklin. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am, one hour prior to the service in the Family Life Center.
