FORT MILL, SC ~ Frederick J. Wine, Sr., 84, of Fort Mill, SC, formerly of Northport, NY., passed into eternal life on September 8, 2020 in the loving presence of his wife of 60 years, Diane (nee Callahan).

He will be forever remembered by his three sons, Frederick (Janet), Timothy (Nancy), and Douglas (Karen); and his daughter Sharon (Paul Pratto).  He had 11 grandchildren and one great-grand son.  Fred will be sadly missed by his three brothers, Robert, Edward, and James, and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

He was predeceased by his sister Carol and brother-in-law Thomas.

Fred retired from Freeman Manufacturing as Vice President of Sales.  He was a long-time mentor to many, having volunteered as coach for St. Philip Neri CYO basketball teams and manager for Larkfield Little League baseball teams.  While in Long Island, he served as a Suffolk County football official and presided as President of the Suffolk County Section XI Football Officials Association.  Fred entered into college football folklore as a member of the 1956 Hofstra Tiny Twenty football team.  As the NY Times said in 2006 "… the Hofstra Tiny Twenty remains one of college football's most remarkable teams."

A Celebration of Fred's life will be held at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his name to the American Cancer Society.
