LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Fred Tounsley Carnes, age 92, died Friday, September 8, 2017 at Lancaster Convalescent Center. He was born July 28, 1925 in Lancaster, SC, a son of the late William Tounsley Carnes and Hattie Jane Shute Carnes and the husband of the late Mary Ellen Williams Carnes. He enjoyed yard sales and tinkering with things. Mr. Carnes attended Hopewell United Methodist Church and was a member at Douglas Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Carnes is survived by two sisters, Martha Wilma McCain and Jettie Beulah Fender and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Carnes is preceded in death by four brothers, Sgt. Joe David Carnes, Benjamin Franklin Carnes, Harold Brown Carnes and Billy Ray Carnes; and three sisters, Mary Alice Carnes, Emily Maunda Franklin and Frances Nell Peppsie Lee.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
