LANCASTER, SC ~ Ms. Frances Hargett Ackerman Outen, age 96, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026. She was born on May 16, 1930, in Rutherfordton, NC, a daughter of the late James Hargett and the late Adileen Scoggins Hargett.

Ms. Frances lived a long and beautiful life of 96 years, filled with faith, family, and many cherished memories. She loved traveling with her family and spent many happy years camping, especially in the mountains, though she also enjoyed trips to the beach. She especially enjoyed traveling to hear gospel music, making memories along the way.

A faithful member of Pleasant Dale Church, Ms. Frances dearly loved her church family. She taught Sunday School for many years at Sherwood Baptist Church. She also found great joy in being outdoors, tending to her yard and lovingly caring for her flower beds.

She was blessed with a long and meaningful life, touching the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Ms. Frances will be deeply missed, but her memory and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Ms. Frances is lovingly survived by her two sons, Tony Ackerman (Teresa) and Danny Ackerman (Nancy K); her two daughters, Nancy Ledford (JR) and Janice Simmons; her grandchildren, Donnie Ledford (Regina), Micky Taylor (Paula), Marty Taylor (Kelly), Tessa Ackerman, and Courtney Broughton (Eric); and nine great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Ted Ackerman and John C. Outen; her parents, James and Adileen Hargett; her two brothers, Charles Hargett and James Hargett; and her sister, Lorene Knight.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Ms. Frances will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Rick Hunter. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm in the Church Sanctuary.
