LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mrs. Frances Rowell Crenshaw, age 89, died Sunday, September 14, 2014. She was born April 8, 1925 in Lancaster, the daughter of the late Andrew Hoyt Rowell, Sr. and Nell Taylor Rowell and was the wife of the late Harold Hillard Crenshaw, Sr. Mrs. Crenshaw was formerly a secretary of Springs Industries and partial owner of Crenshaw Oil Company. She was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church which she loved and was very active in. She enjoyed gardening, playing bridge and the beach. Her passion was her family and friends.
Mrs. Crenshaw is survived by two daughters, Debbie "Cren" Crenshaw of Lancaster and Jodie Elliott and her husband Del of Liberty Hill, a son, Hal Crenshaw and his wife Tami of Lancaster, 6 grandchildren, Wendell Elliott, Ashley Chicklo, Brittany McCutcheon, Jessica Lawson, Bret Elliott and Garrett Crenshaw, and four great grandchildren, Cole McCutcheon, Ava McCutcheon, Dalton Chicklo and Dane Lawson.
Mrs. Crenshaw was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew Hoyt Rowell, Jr. and Ernest Wendell Rowell and four sisters, Mary Lillian Funderburk, Winiford "Bill" Rowell Plummer, Polly Rowell Raley and Eva Mae Rowell Ghent.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Crenshaw will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church by Rev. Heather Humphries. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Family of Mrs. Crenshaw will receive friends following the service in the church social hall and later from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the home of Hal and Tami Crenshaw, 4420 Tabernacle Road, Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rowell Memorial, c/o Sam Courtney, 5075 Rowell Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
