Obituary

INDIAN LAND, SC ~ Mrs. Rosa Floy Richardson Ervin, 87

April 30, 1935 – June 23, 2022

Rosa (Floy) was born to Harold Eli Richardson and Iris Young Richardson on the family farm along with her twin brother, Jimmy Alexander Richardson. She graduated from Indian Land High School in 1953. She worked as an executive secretary with the Celanese Corporation in Rock Hill, SC and Charlotte, NC for 35 years.

Floy was a joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She loved to joke and was known to play pranks on the unsuspecting. Her humor and quick wit allowed for many smiles. Her love of sewing gave her a chance to give to others. She began quilting and her love of this art brought many hours of enjoyment. She never sold any of her beautiful creations. She was happiest when she gave someone a quilt.

She loved God first and foremost, then her family and friends, all were loved fiercely.

Floy is survived by her husband of 44 years, John Hubert Ervin of Indian Land, SC. Also surviving are her daughter, Karen (Sidney) Lee of Georgetown, SC; a son, David (Cheryl) Kitchen of Indian Land, SC; her daughter, Johnsie Dianne (Rick) Moore of Lancaster, SC; grandchildren, Iris (Sheldon) LaVigne of Summerville, SC, Matthew (Emily) Kitchen of Williamsburg, VA, Hunter (Raleigh) Kitchen of Charlotte, NC, Jenny (Ernie) Jones of Colorado Springs, Michelle (Josh) Phillips, and Everette Hilton; great grandchildren, Rosie, CJ, Abby and Shelby LaVigne, Eli and Emmett Kitchen, Lacey Jones, Morgan Jones, Kadi Hilton, Allen Connell, and Sammie Phillips; her twin brother, Jimmy Richardson, Albuquerque, NM; her sister, Norma (David) Johnson of Columbia, SC; her brother, Gene (Glenda) Richardson of Fort Mill, SC; her sister, Merrilyn Long of Summerville, SC; and many special nieces and nephews.

Floy was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Iris Richardson; a sister-in-law, Ceila Richardson; brother-in-law, Bill Long; and her granddaughter, Becky Hilton.
