Mr. Phillips was very involved in his church where he served as Sunday School Director, Trustee, and Deacon. He was a current member of Second Baptist Church Lancaster.

Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, the love of his life, of 62 years, Nancy Phillips; two sons, David Phillips (Marsha) and Jeffrey Phillips; his daughter, Wendy Phillips Snipes (Billy); four grandchildren, Christa Foust (Cameron), Chase Phillips (Lauren), Taylor Robinson (Justin) and Bryson Snipes (Breanna); five great grandchildren, Haven Foust, Wyatt Phillips, Tucker Foust, Clayton Phillips, and Barrett Phillips; four brothers, Frank Phillips (Marion), Fred Phillips (Ruth), Ernest Phillips (Peggy), and Larry Phillips; two sisters, Mary Lee Catoe and Pam Melton; and many nieces and nephews.
