LANCASTER, SC::::::::::::: Mrs. Evelyn Gardner Stewart, age 86, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born June 20, 1922 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Amzie Tillman Gardner and Bessie Walters Gardner and was the wife of the late Walter Callie Stewart. Mrs. Stewart retired from Springs Industries and Lancaster Co. Council on Aging - Heath Springs where she was the Nutrition Site Manager, and was a member of New Horizon Community Baptist Church.Mrs. Stewart is survived by 2 sons, Steve Stewart and his wife Teresa and Wayne Stewart and his wife Trudy, a daughter, Ada Lineberger and her husband Jim all of Lancaster, 2 sisters, Doris G. Horton of Kershaw and Edna G. Bradley of Lugoff, 7 grandchildren; Lisa Baker, Walt Garris, Shelly Stewart, B. Wayne Stewart, Bryan Stewart, Joshua Stewart and Charity Stewart, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Mendel Gardner and Allen Gardner.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Stewart will be 11:00 am, Saturday, May 23, 2009 at First Pentecostal Holiness Church by Dr. Steve Stewart and Pastor Jerald Starnes with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.The Family of Mrs. Stewart will receive friends from 6:00 -7:30 pm, Friday, May 22, 2009 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to New Horizon Community Church, Building Fund PO Box 3287, Lancaster, SC 29721The Family will be at the home of her son, Steve Stewart, 5009 Sedgefield Drive, Lancaster.
