LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mrs. Eunice Hayes Harper, age 87, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016. She was born November 9, 1928 in Dillon County, SC, a daughter of the late Lawton Horace Hayes and Ruth Campbell Hayes Skeen and was the wife of the late Harvey Jack Harper. Mrs. Harper received her B.S. degree from Coker College and her Masters Degree from Winthrop University. She retired from the Lancaster County School District as a public school teacher. After retirement, she worked with the Academic Success Center at USC-Lancaster. She enjoyed reading and computer technology. She loved people and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Harper was a very active member of First Baptist Church for many years and served as a Sunday School teacher.
Mrs. Harper is survived by two daughters, Jean Harper Moree and her husband Jerry of Lancaster and Jacqueline Harper Hart and her husband Dennis of New London, NC; two sisters, Margaret Hayes Allen of Latta, and Dorothy Hayes Branham and her husband, Rev. Lester P. Branham of Lake City; and seven grandchildren, Patrick Moree, Joshua Moree, Cameron Moree, Corey Hart, Jackson Hart, Megan Hart and Gracie Hart.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Harper will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at First Baptist Church by Rev. Randy Hatcher, Rev. Lester P. Branham and Rev. Jim Pyatt. Entombment will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 7:00 pm Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to the University of South Carolina Lancaster, Academic Success Center, PO Box 889, Lancaster, SC 29721 or First Baptist Church Bereavement Committee, PO Box 670, Lancaster, SC 29721.
