LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mrs. Etta Rae Coker Plyler, age 87, died Saturday, March 12, 2016 at her home. She was born October 28, 1928 in Chesterfield County, a daughter of the late Clarence Ray Coker and Lizzie Mae Rodgers Coker and was the wife of the late Therrell J. Plyler. Mrs. Plyler retired from Springs Industries. She loved her family and friends. Mrs. Plyler always thought of others before herself. She was a member of the Wesley Sunday School Class, attended Bible study and sang in the choir. Mrs. Plyler was a charter member of Zion United Methodist Church, where she was very actively involved.

Mrs. Plyler is survived by a son-in-law, Donald Jenkins; three nieces, Deborah Hudson and her husband, Richard, Renee Bailey and her husband, Andy, and Linda Roberts and her husband Russell; five nephews, Timmy Hall and his wife Melinda, Otis Coker, Jerry Coker and his wife, Belinda, Tommy Coker and his wife, Lisa, and Randy Coker; and many great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Plyler was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Jenkins; three brothers, Cecil Coker, Leon Coker, and E.D. Coker; and six sisters, Joyce Galloway, Elizabeth Coker, Louise Coker, Elfreida Tucker, Edith Coker, and Ruby Coker.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Plyler will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Zion United Methodist Church by Rev. Mike Burgess. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 11:00 am Tuesday, March 15, 2016, one hour prior to the funeral service, in the church sanctuary and other times at 2611 McIlwain Road.
