LANCASTER, SC::::::::::::: Mrs. Ethel Snipes Plyler, age 84, died Wednesday morning, December 3, 2008 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born June 11, 1924 in Kershaw County, the daughter of the late Jess Snipes and Viola Deese Snipes and was the wife of the late Leighton Plyler. Mrs. Plyler retired from Springs Industries, was a lifetime member of Woodmen of the World and a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #146 having served as past Worthy Matron. She was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.Mrs. Plyler is survived by brothers-in-law, Chalmers (Mary) Plyler, Lewis (Matrell) Plyler of Lancaster and Maurice Haigler of Monroe, many nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Sara Grier.Mrs. Plyler was preceded in death by her husband, Leighton Plyler, 3 brothers, Frank, Clyde, and Julius Snipes, and 3 sisters, Nellie Kathleen Cooper, Dessie J. "Totsie" Raffaldt, and Annie Snipes.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Plyler will be 11:00 am Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Arthur Vick with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.The Family of Mrs. Plyler will receive friends prior to the service, from 10:30 - 11:00 am Thursday morning and suggest memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1664 Flat Creek Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
