Obituary

LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Ethel Bell Jackson, age 91, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022. She was born February 26, 1931, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late James Bell and Annie Harper Bell and was the wife of the late James Marion Jackson. After retiring from Springs Industries, Mrs. Jackson moved to Myrtle Beach for several years before returning to Lancaster. She loved her family and was a doting grandmother. Mrs. Jackson was known for her pound cakes and enjoyed cooking and baking for friends and family, and also enjoyed traveling. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by her children, Donna Gregory (Hal), Joni Starnes (Tony), Jimbo Jackson (Beverly), and a special "adopted" daughter, Iris Shelly (Russell); a special friend, Clyde Ghent; ten grandchildren, Brandy Caroway (Shane), Seth Gregory (Heather), Gabe Gregory (Mary Elizabeth) Corey Starnes (Ashley) Brenton Starnes (Meredith), Carlee Starnes, Trey Jackson (Amber), Jeania Bailey (Ryan), Sunni Barndt (Brad), and Richard Shelly (Deanna);  fifteen  great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; a sister, Sara Alice Owens; and a large extended family.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, James Jackson; her parents; and three brothers, Dick Bell, Buster Bell, and Emory Bell.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Jackson will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Immanuel Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Tim Anderson. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Burgess Funeral Home. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 1152 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.
