LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Ervin Dewey Cauthen, age 74, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023. He was born February 18, 1949, in Lancaster, a son of the late Joseph Alva Cauthen, Sr. and Emma Mae Kelly Cauthen. Ervin proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was employed as a supervisor at Lancaster County Disabilities and Special Needs, and he was perfect for this position as he was caretaker for his disabled son. Ervin was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and playing golf. Family was very important to him, and he loved them all dearly. He was a faithful member of Lynwood Drive Church of God, and he loved his church and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ervin is survived by his two sons, Michael Wayne Cauthen and Brian Cauthen (Rhonda); his grandson, Caleb Cauthen; his sister, Desiree Edwards (Bill); and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joseph Cauthen, Jr.; and two sisters, Louise Copeland and Brindell Medlin.

The Celebration of Life Service for Ervin will be 2:00 pm Monday, November 13, 2023, at Lynwood Drive Church of God officiated by Rev. Clyde Hardin.  Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Lynwood Drive Church of God.
